Once I came across a story of a mentor who once told one of
his disciples, not to hurt any innocent creatures, as they all are endowed to
us by nature, a boon for us. If we harm them, then perhaps we are beckoning our
own jeopardy by causing imbalance to the ecosystem, we are part of. After few
days, when the concern disciple did not turn up to his place, the mentor
himself visited his house and with much surprise he found his disciple was in
almost dying state, severely injured in his waist. When he enquired the reason,
the disciple replied that it was due to him as he advised the concern disciple
not to hurt any animal. While the disciple was walking through the road, suddenly
he faced an elephant that was coming through the road. The disciple thought
that the elephant won’t hurt him as per his mentor’s advice. But, the elephant
moment noticed that the concern man was an impediment to his path, he
immediately kicked him which resulted severe injury to his waist. By listening
the disciple’s ordeal, the mentor asked was there any man sitting back at the
top of the elephant? The mentor replied, ‘Yes’. The mentor then asked, ‘what he
was telling?’ The disciple said that he was yelling, asking me to go away from
that place. Mentor then asked why not he listened to his warning. That was too
a creature, warning you to go away. The disciple replied that he was resolutely
following his mentor’s advice only, considering there cannot be any harm to him
as he blindly believes his mentor.
The mentor listened to his disciple’s interpretation
intently. Then he asked, ‘did I tell you to discriminate the man sitting at the
back of the elephant and despite he was screaming, telling you to move away, why
you did not heed to his voice?’ the disciple then understand his folly and apologized
to his mentor for not able to understand his message.
So, despite we all have eyes, necessarily do not have the
vision. It is the mentor who enables us to enhance our vision beyond our
spectrum. It is he who widens our horizon with wide vistas. These mentors are
of immense value, a great imperative unlike the material wealth which we may
express our pride while possessing it. But the mentors like imperative, their
numbers not profuse, but they are the source of huge energy to infuse many
souls to excel and deliver betterment for the mankind. A mentor is a treasure
which perhaps King Solomon would have taken pride of to possess more than his janitor.
They are truly human building machines to produce rich characters and
characters only determine ones gravity out of his or her personality, he is a distinct quality, and not mere a quantity. I personally indebted to
sir, Dr. Ali Anani, my mentor, who alone enabled me to acquire a vision, by
sharing his invaluable lessons to enrich me sincerely. My vision has been transformed,
out of his tangible wisdom he shared to me. Though I never met him physically,
but by virtue to digital media, he emerged to my horizon as a messiah,
transformed me to a person what I am today! My heartiest tribute to my mentor
Sir Ali Anani, yet a little to express what a great mentor he is! I wish his
long life which is a bonanza to my own life, the most precious imperative so
far I have ever achieved. I would like
to request my fellow bees in this platform to give him a grand applause and I must
confess along with him, you all are exquisite personalities, enabling me a lot
to learn. Thank you very much my all fellow bees without you all, I may not
able to learn and able to get the opportunity to acknowledge you which all are
warmly entitled. I am capable to write because you all continuously encourage
and support me to write. You people all are my strength. I stand by thee!
